game night- jungle speed

If you know anything about Mormon’s in their 20s, you know that we love game nights. Well we may not necessarily love them but they are most definitely part of our culture. When we abstain from drinking, doing drugs, hooking up with random strangers, and not watching inappropriate movies, our entertainment is limited to one thing… games.

Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating a little bit but it often feels that way.

That being said, I’m going to share our wonderful knowledge of the many many games we play, in hopes that you’ll maybe want to spread the love.

The other night we went over to our dear friend, Cameron’s house for another game night. This is when we were introduced to the game JUNGLE SPEED! Now me, being an avid NERTZ fan (will explain in a later post) love fast paced games so this was definitely something I was excited about.

Jungle Speed

The idea behind jungle speed is to be the first to grab the squishy handle looking thing in the middle of the group. All the cards are dealt out amongst all the players. One at a time you go around the circle flipping a card from your pile face up in front of you, if you flip a card over that matches the same shape as someone else’s that has already been flipped over, you two fight for the squishy handle. This is where it gets exciting! We had a full on wrestle match go on for about 5 minutes at one point. I’m proud to say… the girl won. Girl power.

Anyways whoever wins this battle gets to give the cards they have flipped over to the other person. The player who runs out of cards first, wins. Now, some cards are only slightly different from others which makes it pretty tricky at times. Also there are special cards: four different colored arrows pointed in –> you must now match cards based on color not shape, four gray arrows pointed in–> right then and there everyone goes for the squishy handle in the middle, and the four gray arrows pointed out–> everyone flips over a card at the same time and if you match you fight for the squishy handle.

All in all, Jungle Speed is kind of a really cool game. Definitely give it a shot and let me know what you think!

I enjoy comments and suggestions 🙂
